After airing in Australia, USA, and other territories all around the world and a slew of awards, Get Ace has been nominated for an International Emmy!
Back in 2013 I posted about having the immense pleasure of working on brand new animated series, Get Ace.
Created by old mates Gian Christian and Dina McPherson and produced by Galay Pop here in Melbourne, it follows a pimply teenager inadvertently getting superspy-designed, high-tech braces attached to his teeth – leading to gadget-heavy hijinks and the world’s craziest villains pursuing him, all while trying to get the attention of the popular girl in school AND finish his homework!
I voice the braces’ snooty-hologram controller, Hugo, as well as the bumbling villain the braces were designed for, Ned, Gordon the school bully and his military boot-camp-running dad Rainer, and the local hairdresser, pet groomer and all-round town fashinista, Frederick deVeer! I got to work with other some old voice mates, as well as a bunch of new talent – including Amanda Harrison, David Miles Brown, Jacquie Brennan, Ian Bliss, Emily Wheaton and Tara Whyte.
Since we wrapped recording late last year, it has aired in Australia on Eleven and ABC3, shown in North America and the UK, and has been translated and dubbed into many other countries (you should hear it in French!).
After being nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Children’s Television Series and winning an AWGIE for Best Animation her in Austrlia, it has just been announced as a nominee for an International Emmy Award for Kids Animation. Congrats to the entire team!
A few months back it was announced that Season 2 would go into production this year. Stay tuned…
